TRUE REPENTANCE AND REPENTING ON BEHALF OF OUR NATIONS
TRUE REPENTANCE AND REPENTING ON BEHALF OF OUR NATIONS
Repentance is not a
ritual of the church nor is it an emotion. Repentance means to completely turn
around, to change our minds, to decide to turn away from all unrighteousness
and sin. It is a decision of the will that is registered in the mind. It is a
choice to submit ourselves to what God requires us to do. When we have repented
and are walking closely with the Lord, we then have the right to repent on
behalf of our suburb, city, state and nation. When the Lord speaks of
repentance, He speaks to nations as much as He speaks to individual people.
Love and hate are
both normal emotions created within us. The Lord also loves and hates. Is hate
always bad? Is love always good? It depends on whom or what we are loving or
hating. Examples of good righteous love is to love
the Lord, to love serving Him, to love the Word of God, to love our family both
natural and spiritual. Examples of unrighteous love are the love of money or
the love and enjoyment of sin. There are two uses for the one word ‘hate’. One
‘hate’ is a very strong word meaning a deep sense of loathing, detestation or
abhorrence; something so wicked it must be absolutely rejected. The other use of ‘hate’, means
to ‘love less than’.
